Spousal and Common-Law Partner Sponsorship
Reunite with Your Loved One in Canada

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner for permanent residence. This program supports family reunification, which is a cornerstone of Canada’s immigration system.
Who Can Be Sponsored
Under the spousal sponsorship program, the following relationships are recognized:

There are two application streams available to applicants:

Inland Sponsorship: Partners who currently reside in Canada are eligible for inland sponsorship. Candidates may be able to work while their application is being processed if they are granted an open work permit.
