Visitor Visa for Workers and Students

Canada's Visitor Visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is primarily intended for individuals who wish to visit Canada for tourism, to visit family or friends, or to attend business meetings. However, workers and students may also require a Visitor Visa depending on their specific circumstances. Here is detailed information on Visitor Visas for workers and students:

Visitor Visa for Workers:

1. Temporary Foreign Workers:

- If you are a temporary foreign worker planning to visit Canada, you may need a Visitor Visa depending on your citizenship. Check the official IRCC website to determine if you require a visa.

- If you already have a work permit, you may not need a separate Visitor Visa as your work permit serves as authorization to enter and work in Canada.

- However, if you plan to engage in non-work-related activities, such as tourism or visiting family, you may need a Visitor Visa to participate in those activities.

2. Business Visitors:

- If you are visiting Canada for business purposes, such as attending meetings, conferences, or negotiations, you may require a Visitor Visa.

- Business visitors must demonstrate that their primary source of remuneration and principal place of business remain outside Canada.

- The activities you can engage in as a business visitor are limited to specific business-related activities and must not involve entering the Canadian labor market.

Visitor Visa for Students:

1. International Students:

- If you are an international student planning to study in Canada, you will typically require a Study Permit rather than a Visitor Visa.

- A Study Permit allows you to stay in Canada for the duration of your study program and may include provisions for working part-time on or off-campus.

- However, if you have completed your studies and are planning to stay in Canada temporarily for tourism or to visit family, you may need a Visitor Visa in addition to your Study Permit.

2. Short-Term Courses or Workshops:

- If you are attending a short-term course or workshop in Canada, lasting six months or less, you may need a Visitor Visa depending on your citizenship.

- Check the official IRCC website to determine if your country of citizenship requires a visa.

- If the course or workshop is longer than six months, you will typically need a Study Permit instead of a Visitor Visa.

The application process for a Visitor Visa for workers and students is similar to the general Visitor Visa application process. You will need to complete the application form (IMM 5257), provide supporting documents such as a valid passport, proof of purpose of visit, proof of funds, and pay the application fee.

It's important to note that immigration policies and requirements can change over time.
